Now we have nearly reached the end of the film and television awards season for 2021, we thought we would give you a round-up and highlight some of the key category winners of the streaming and cinema releases in the past year that were Captured on CODEX and/or Powered by PIX.




Golden Globes Awards

We started the season with the 78th annual Golden Globe Awards - originally scheduled for the first Sunday in January – it took place on 28th February as an East/West coast telecast hosted by Tina Fey from The Rainbow Room in NYC and Amy Poehler from The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, with nominees appearing virtually from around the world.

Schitt’s Creek - Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy
When a rich video-store magnate and his family suddenly find themselves broke, they are forced to leave their pampered lives to regroup in Schitt's Creek.


Nomadland
Best Motion Picture – Drama
and Best Director – Motion Picture (Chloé Zhao)
Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. The third feature film from director Chloé Zhao, NOMADLAND features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern's mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.


BAFTA Awards

The 74th annual EE British Academy Film Awards was split over two nights on 10 and 11th April, traditionally 2 weeks before the Academy Awards. Celebrating the very best in film of the past year.

Sound of Metal – Editing and Sound
A heavy-metal drummer's life is thrown into freefall when he begins to lose his hearing.


My Octopus Teacher – Documentary

A filmmaker forges an unusual friendship with an octopus living in a South African kelp forest, learning as the animal shares the mysteries of her world.


Independent Spirit Awards

The Indie Spirit Awards traditionally take place the Saturday before the Oscars. This year's ceremony took place the Thursday before, 24th April in Santa Monica at its usual pier location. 2021 marks the first time the Spirit Awards welcomed television categories into the mix.
